Today's Verse: Bible Verse: 1 John 1:9 (KJV)

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Thoughts on Today Verse...

One of the most difficult things we face as humans is confronting our own failures. We're experts at denial, minimizing, or redirecting blame. Yet God offers us something revolutionary: complete forgiveness through honest confession.

Notice the beautiful promise here. When we confess, God doesn't merely forgive—He is "faithful and just" to forgive. His forgiveness isn't a reluctant response. It's the faithful fulfillment of His promises and a just action because of Christ's sacrifice.

This verse reveals the heart of the gospel. We don't earn forgiveness by our remorse or good behavior. Rather, Jesus has already paid the price, making forgiveness not only possible but righteous. As Proverbs 28:13 reminds us, "Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy."

What might you be hiding from God today? That habit you can't seem to break? That resentment you've been nursing? That shameful thought pattern?

God already knows. And He's waiting with open arms to not just forgive but to cleanse you completely—washing away every stain of unrighteousness through Christ's blood.

Today Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come before You acknowledging that I've fallen short of Your glory. Thank You that I don't have to hide my failures or pretend to be perfect. Today, I confess my sins to You, knowing that You are faithful to Your promises and just because of Christ's sacrifice.

Lord, I'm grateful that Your forgiveness isn't based on how good I am, but on how good You are. Wash me clean from all unrighteousness and restore the joy of Your salvation within me.

Help me to walk in the light of Your truth, rejecting the shadows of secrecy and shame. When I'm tempted to hide my struggles, remind me of Your unfailing love and complete forgiveness through Jesus.

Thank You for making me new again and again. In Jesus' name, Amen.
